What do do if you receive an unfair parking ticket.

If you really have a genuine case, you could try sending a polite letter to the council pointing out all the facts and request that they cancel the ticket.  This is, however, highly unlikely to have any chance whatsoever of success.  Most of the staff in Sutton are demented bureaucrats, so all that will happen is that you will hear nothing, until you receive a demand for the full cost of the ticket.

You may also initiate an appeal, but again, if you lose, you will have to pay the full amount of the ticket, not the discounted prompt payment amount.  Parking attendants have been known to lie at appeal hearings, and council officials are deliberately obstructive, meaning that your chances of success are minimal.  Also, you are unlikely to want to take a day off work just to have your case heard.  However, if you really want to go down that route, click  HERE  for links to resources.

 There are, however, other things  which you could do:

• Send out unstamped letters to every council member of the local authority which issued the ticket.  Their names can usually be found on their website.  This will only take an hour or two if you have reasonable computer facilities. If everyone does this, the issuing of tickets would cease to be profitable.
• Send out emails to every bureaucrat and member of the council that you can find on the website, hundreds of times a day, explaining that you feel aggrieved.
• Set up your own website and create your own local support group.
• Send copies of all correspondence to local newspapers.
• If you actually saw the parking attendant, send an outraged letter to the council alleging that the attendant concerned swore at you, and threatened you.  This is impossible to prove or disprove if there are no witnesses, and if it happens often enough, the council will be forced to take action.  (Only do this, however, if the attendant DID threaten you, or swore at you! Ahem...)
